He practiced clinical cardiology and pursued academic research in the areas of cardiovascular disease, molecular genetics, and genetic epidemiology as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, and the American College for Medical Genetics. He pursued postgraduate training and specialization in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Genetics in the United States and Germany and holds board certifications in these specialties. Dr. Lindpaintner holds Bachelor of Science and Medical Doctorate degrees from the University of Innsbruck in Austria, and a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University.
