Mr. Paspalas has over 20-years of international executive and operating experience in mining, project development and mines management. He enjoyed a distinguished 18-year career with Placer Dome Inc., working at a number of locations around the world including Canada, Australia, Latin America and Africa and he also gained the valuable knowledge and experience needed to build and run mining operations, develop strategic community partnerships, and manage government affairs relating to permitting activities. Some specific examples of his leadership include significant business returns at the Osborne and Granny Smith mines in Australia, successful implementation of the Wallaby project in Western Australia, and the dynamic integration of the North Mara mine in Tanzania. Mr. Paspalas served as Mine General Manager of Granny Smith Mine from June 2002 to October 2002 and Mine General Manager of Osborne Mine. He led the technical development and engineering functions globally for Sargold Resource Corp. He has been the Chairman of Sardinia Gold Mining S.p.A, a subsidiary of Sargold Resource Corp., since June 1, 2006. He has been a Director of Aurizon Mines Ltd. since August 15, 2011. He has been a Director of Pretium Resources Inc. since May 2013. He served as a Director of Sargold Resource Corp. since January 31, 2007. Mr. Paspalas holds an Honours Degree in Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) in Chemical from the University of New South Wales in 1984; has completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD France; and is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
