Dr. Robert L. Joss, Bob, Ph.D., is a Philip H. Knight Professor and Dean of the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California since September 1999. Dr. Joss served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Westpac Banking Corporation from February 1993 to February 1999 and was instrumental in refocusing the bank's strategy, modernizing and streamlining operations, and restructuring its culture. Dr. Joss serves as an Independent Director at Macquarie ProLogis Management Limited, the Manager of Macquarie Prologis Trust. He serves as an Independent Director at EDT Retail Management Limited. Dr. Joss serves as a Director at Bechtel Group, Inc. and Bechtel Corporation. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of C.M. Capital Corporation. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Dr. Joss worked in Washington, first as a White House Fellow and then for the Treasury Department as Deputy to the Assistant Secretary for economic policy. He serves as the Chairman of the Australian Bankers Association. Dr. Joss serves as a Director of Bay Area Council. He was a member of the school's Advisory Council. He was a Sloan fellow in 1965-66. Dr. Joss holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington and an M.B.A. in 1967 and a Ph.D. in Finance in 1970, writing his dissertation on the market for commercial paper, both from Stanford University.
