He became the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1983, a position he held until 1990. Mr. Cohen managed Shearson's acquisitions of Lehman Brothers and E.F. Hutton & Company in 1984 and 1988, respectively. He was a Generalist in Securities Analysis and Investment Banking at Shearson Lehman Brothers in 1970. Mr. Cohen began his career on Wall Street at Reynolds & Co. in 1969. He is a Director of the Titan Corporation, Safe Auto Insurance, Scientific Games Corporation, Portfolio Recovery Associates Inc., Mount Sinai Hospital, The Depository Trust Company, The Ohio State University Foundation, and The New York City Opera. Mr. Cohen is a Member of the Advisory Board of GermanCapital GmbH. He was a Member of a number of corporate, industry, and philanthropic boards including, The New York Stock Exchange, The American Express Company, GRC International, Olivetti SpA, Société Générale de Belgique, Telecom Italia SpA; Presidential Life Corporation, Kroll, Inc., and L-3 Communications. He was the Vice Chairman and a Director of Republic New York Corporation and the Chairman of Republic New York Securities Corporation. Mr. Cohen received an M.B.A. from Columbia University in 1969 and a B.S. from Ohio State University in 1968.
