As a leading diabetes clinician and researcher, he has authored over 300 articles and 16 books. He also authored numerous research and review articles, many of which focus on insulin pump therapy and other aspects and results of intensive management of diabetes. He was the recipient of the Banting Award for Service. Dr. Skyler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Science from Pennsylvania State University in 1967 and an MD degree from Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University in 1969 and completed Postdoctoral Studies at Duke University Medical Center.
