She also serves on the Executive Council of the Florida Council of 100, the Board of Trustees of the Florida Chamber Foundation and the U.S. Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, as well as serving as Chairman of Enterprise Florida Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TEC) Council. She serves as chair of the Auburn Alumni Engineering Council and is on the Board of the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame. She serves as the National Chair for the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), and is on the boards of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE). While in Florida, she was appointed to the Federal Judiciary Nominating Commission, the Florida Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) advisory council. She was a political appointment to the Florida Taxation and Budget Reform Commission, required by Florida law. In addition, she was appointed chair of the Finance and Taxation Committee, which had responsibility for assessing the effects and appropriateness of financial structures of the state and its local governments. Ms. Story has received various awards and honors, including Sacred Heart Hospital's Presidential Achievement Award, the Women's Business Center's “Women Breaking the Corporate Glass Ceiling Award,“ the Birmingham Business Journal's “Top 10 Women in Business“ for 2002, the Girl Scout's “Woman of Distinction Award,“ and the “Outstanding Engineering Alumnus“ Award from the Auburn University College of Engineering. She has attended executive education programs at Duke University and Oxford University in England and completed international business studies at Cambridge University and leadership studies at Harvard. She has also completed Post-graduate Work in Financial Options and Derivatives at the University of Alabama, and at the Birmingham School of Law focusing on torts and contracts. Ms. Story earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
