Dr. Nicky Lu Ph.d serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at TM Technology Inc. Dr. Lu serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Etron Technology Inc. He co-founded EiC Corporation and served as its Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Lu established EiC in the aftermath of his success with the Etron Corporation. Dr. Lu serves as the Head of the Etron Corporation and has presided over the development of several graphics DRAM products that are the fastest products of their kind in the world. He is a major driving force and a proponent of GaAs HBT technologies for high performance, broadband wireless communication components and subsystems. Dr. Lu founded Etron in 1991. Dr. Lu has been accredited as being one of the key architects of the emerging DRAM industry in Taiwan. On the basis of this performance and the Etron Corporation reputation for leadership in the development of new semiconductor technologies, Dr. Lu has won international recognition/acclaimation as an Entrepreneur and Inventor. Dr. Lu spent seven years with IBM, where he was involved in the development of new DRAM-related technologies. He served as Manager of a DRAM Research group and later became the Director of Research for the technical staff of IBM. He served as Program Manager and assisted both the Senior Vice President and the AGM of IBM’s Technology Products Group Headquarters. During his years at IBM, Dr. Lu has made a number of important contributions toward the advancement of DRAM technology and won recognition for his technical leadership in the growth of the worldwide DRAM industry. He co-invented and pioneered the emergence of a 3D-DRAM technology, known as the Substrate-Plate Trench-Capacitor (SPT) cell, along with its associated array architecture, is used by IBM in its 4Mb to 256 Mb DRAMS. Dr. Lu also did significant pioneering work in the field of High Speed CMOS DRAM (HSDRAM) technology, demonstrating in 1984 Dr. Lu’s work later led to the development of faster DRAMs with greater capacity. He serves as Director of TM Technology, Inc. He serves as Asia Pacific Leadership Council Director at Fabless Semiconductor Association. He serves as a Director of EiC Corp. and Etron Technology Inc. He served as Director of Vweb Corp. He was elected as an AdCom member of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society from 1977 to 1999, and serves as a Director of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association and the Taiwan Science-Based Industrial Park Association. Dr. Lu holds 20 US patents and has published over 50 technical papers and is on the technical program committees of the IEEE International Solid States Circuits Conference (ISSCC) and the Symposium on VLSI circuits. In addition, he has received a number of awards including a Stanford fellowship, IBM Corporate Awards, three IBM Outstanding innovation/Technical Achievement Awards, and an EDN Asia Innovator Award, to name a few. Dr. Lu is a Fellow of the IEEE and the recipient of the IEEE 1998 Solid-States Circuits Award for his pioneering contributions to high-speed dynamic memory design and cell technology a member of US National Academy of Engineering. Dr. Lu was selected to be an "Outstanding Entrepreneur of R.O.C." by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, received an honorable visit to the President, and was presented with the "Golden Merchant Award" by the General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China. Dr. Lu was honored to be Chair Professor of the National Chiao Tung University. Received the Award of "Benefiting The Youth" from Council for Economic Planning & Development, Council of Labor Affairs, and National Youth Commission, for participating in the government's on-the-job youth training program. He was honoured with the Award of Excellence to Directors from the Chinese National Federation of Industries. He served as a visiting professor at the National Chiao-Tung University and was honored to receive the university's Distinguished Alumnus Award. Dr. Lu received his M.S. and Ph.D. of Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1978 and 1981, respectively. He earned his BSEE degree at the National Taiwan University in 1975.
