Prior to Allegiance Telecom, Ms. Haratunian served as Vice President and General Counsel of HarvardNet Inc., where she established and managed the legal department, assisting in Akamai Technologies Inc.'s growth from start-up to over 500 employees, and expansion into eight states. She is recognized as a national expert on customer privacy issues, she has been retained by Fortune 100 executives on matters of customer privacy regulations, as well as to strategize on impacting privacy legislation introduced in the U.S. Congress. She has developed customer privacy regulations that were incorporated into the 1996 Telecommunications Act, a statute that applies to all U.S. telecommunications carriers. She also served as Legal Assistant to the Common Carrier Bureau Chief of the Federal Communications Commission, and Attorney-Advisor for the Policy and Program Planning Division, also with the FCC. Ms. Haratunian received a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, and a B.A. in political science from Boston College.
