He began his career in the Foreign Service in 1966. Sir. Meyer was posted to Brussels where he was active in the UK's representation to the European Union (EU) specializing in trade policy and later returned to Moscow in 1982 as Political Counselor. Upon returning to London, he was appointed to the position of Foreign Office Spokesman and Press Secretary to the Foreign Secretary (similar to the U.S. Secretary of State), later Lord Geoffrey Howe of Aberavon. Sir. Meyer served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy in Washington. He served as Minister for Trade Policy in Washington D.C. He has been Chairman of the International Advisory Board of Globetel Communications Corp., since March 2006. Sir. Meyer served as Chairman of International Advisory Board at Sanswire Corp. (formerly, Globetel Communications Corp.) since March 2006. Sir. Meyer served as Chairman of Sanswire Corp. from September 2005 to March 19, 2006. After graduating, he was Johns Hopkins Scholar from the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Bologna, Italy. Sir. Meyer was educated at Lancing College, Lycee Henri IV in Paris and Peterhouse in the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with MA degree in History in 1966.
