From 1992 to 1994, he served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of GrandMet Foods Europe, based in Paris. He served as the Chairman of Walkers Crisps in the U.K. He served as Vice-Chairman of The Pillsbury Company from 1990 to 1992. He has been a Non Executive Director of Syngenta Crop Protection, Inc. since 2000 and PBG Mexicosince 1997. He has been an Independent Director at Sodexo S.A., since February 8, 2005. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Syngenta AG from 2000 to April 23, 2013. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Stanwich School. He is a private investor. Mr. Thompson has a degree in Modern Languages from Oxford University and an MBA from the Columbia University.
