Dr. McNeil served as a member of the Prospective Payment Assessment Commission and the Publications Committee of the New England Journal of Medicine. In the summer of 2007, she served as an Interim Dean of Harvard Medical School. She received her AB degree in Chemistry from Emmanuel College in 1962 and her MD in 1966 and PhD from biological chemistry degree in 1972 from Harvard University. She also attended the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School in 1986. At Harvard Medical School she was one of the first tenured women.
