He was responsible for the development and management of Akamai's channel sales program from October 1999 to October 2001 and also served as its Vice President of Global Channel Sales since October 2001; Vice President of Sales for Eastern Division from November 2001 to December 2002; Vice President of Sales for Americas from January 2003 to October 2003; Regional Channels Manager and Director of Channel Sales from 1999 to 2001. From 1999 to 2000, he served as Vice President of Channels at Akamai, where he launched and managed Akamai’s indirect distribution business. Mr. Hughes led the development of Akamai’s successful ecosystem of reseller partners including IBM, EDS, Telefonica, as well as numerous Web development, streaming, and other alliance partners. Prior to Akamai, he held senior sales and business development positions at PictureTel Corporation, developing strategic sales channels to market PictureTel's TCP/IP voice, video and data product lines. He also served in sales and marketing roles at Boston Scientific Corporation. Mr. Hughes received a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
