He has been the Chairman Emeritus at Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association since January 1, 2011. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association since January 2010 and served as its Vice Chairman since 2009. He served as Chairman of the Board of Junior Achievement, Inc. and has been its Director since 2005. He serves as Director of CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus. Mr. de la Vega has been a Director of New York Life Insurance Co. since November 2009. He serves as Trustee of Georgia Research Alliance, Inc. He is the Chairman of Hispanic Initiative and Vice Chairman of Junior Achievement of Georgia. He serves on Board of Directors of Junior Achievement Worldwide and the Boy Scouts of America and United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. Mr. de la Vega's achievements have been recognized by several prestigious organizations, including the magazine Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology, which listed him one of the "50 Most Important Hispanics in Technology and Business" for three consecutive years (2003 - 2005); Hispanic Business magazine, which listed him as one of the "100 influential" individuals in 2004 and 2005; and Hispanic Trends magazine, which named him one of the top 100 professionals in 2004. In 2004, he was elected the Executive of the Year by the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. That same year he was named the Atlanta Telecommunications Professional of the Year by the Atlanta Telecommunications Association, and Hispanic magazine named him one of six trendsetters who deserved recognition for their contribution to their fields. Mr. de la Vega's involvement with the community is extensive. He is also the author of the just-released book, Obstacles Welcome: Turn Adversity into Advantage in Business and Life (Thomas Nelson, 2009). Mr. de la Vega holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Northern Illinois University and he completed the Executive Program at the University of Virginia.
