Mr. Alan R. Bentley is Part of a twenty member team at the Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization (CTTC) dedicated to the commercialization of technologies resulting from Vanderbilt’s research enterprise. Mr. Bentley served as Director of Commercialization of Cleveland Clinic Innovations. Mr. Bentley joined to the Cleveland Clinic from the University of Virginia, where he served as the Associate Director of the University of Virginia Patent Foundation. ... He has been a Director of Informatics Corporation of America, Inc since May 23, 2012. He serves on the institutions conflict of interest committee, the board of Life Science Tennessee, and several Vanderbilt start up boards. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), and has been a registered U.S. Patent Agent since 1999. Before transitioning to technology commercialization, Mr. Bentley was physics and engineering instructor at Longwood University, a small state college located in Farmville, Virginia. While at Longwood, he taught a variety of introductory and advanced physics and engineering lecture and laboratory courses, including Electronic Circuit Theory and Advance Electricity and Magnetism. His research included Monte Carlo simulation of high energy particle collisions and studies into the kinematics of relativistic pion-pion collisions. Mr. Bentley graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with honors, receiving separate Bachelor’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics. Mr. Bentley received his Master’s Degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Virginia.
