Mr. Tanenbaum's involvement in Community Associations includes serving as the Vice Chairman and Director of the Mount Sinai Hospital, the Co-Chairman of the Research Committee for the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute, Member, Board of Directors, Brain Canada; Member, University Council, Cornell University; a Board Member of the National Board of The Canadian Council of Christians & Jews, the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, and the Miller Thomson Foundation, the Vice Chairman of CIJA, a Member, Dean’s Advisory Council at Schulich School of Business at York University, Founding Member of Canadian Council for Israel and Jewish Advocacy, a Member of Executive Committee of UJA Federation, and a Co-Chair of United Jewish Appeal in 1998. He currently serves as a member of the Ontario Investment and Trade Advisory Council, and recently served on the Independent Fiscal Review Panel of the City of Toronto and the Mayor's Economic Competitiveness Advisory Committee of the City of Toronto. Mr. Tanenbaum is a member of the Advisory Council, Toronto Board of Trade and is an Honorary Co-Chair of the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance. He has had a long-standing interest in the sports and entertainment area to that end in 1991 he spearheaded the effort to bring a NBA franchise to Toronto to that end in 1996 acquired a minority interest in the Maple Leafs hockey club and arena. In 1998, Mr. Tanenbaum was an active force in the acquisition of the Toronto Raptors basketball team and the Air Canada Centre which, with the Toronto Maple Leafs, formed Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment Limited (“MLSE”). In recognition of his contributions in the areas of philanthropy, business and volunteerism, Mr. Tanenbaum was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada on October 25, 2007. He served as the National Revenue Chairman of the Liberal Party of Canada during Prime Minister Paul Martin's term of office. Mr. Tanenbaum received a B.Sc. degree in Economics from Cornell University in 1968.
