Mr. D. Jeffrey Van Steenbergen, Jeff is the founding General Partner of KERN Partners Ltd. Mr. van Steenbergen was a Co-Head of North American Oil and Gas with JP Morgan & Co. Mr. van Steenbergen has been active in the North American and international energy sector for close to 30 years and has a wide range of experience in oil and gas and energy infrastructure as an investor, investment banker, and in operating and operations management roles with Exxon Mobil Corporation ... and with Schlumberger Limited. He has been a finance professional for 20 years and has broad experience in private equity, capital markets, mergers, and corporate finance. He was Founding Partner of KERN Partners Ltd. In addition, He has 11 years of energy sector operating experience in North America, Asia, and Western Europe, including eight years in offshore drilling operations. He served as an Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. His major projects experience with Mobil includes Hibernia (offshore oil production facilities design) and Sable Offshore Energy (natural gas development planning). He was associated with Mobil’s well control response group for five years. He has been a Director of Ember Resources Inc., since March 01, 2007. He has been a Director at Cobalt International Energy, Inc. since November 2005. He serves as a Director of Osum Oil Sands Corp. Mr. van Steenbergen represents KERN on the Boards of Adura Resources, Altex Energy Ltd., Aduro Resources, Ltd., Fairfield Energy (United Kingdom), Magma Global Ltd, and Seven Generations Energy Ltd. He served as a Director at Medora Resources Inc and Milestone Exploration Inc. From 1982 to 1987, he held a United States Coast Guard Master’s License (Captain) for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units. Mr. van Steenbergen attended a series of Executive Programs at Harvard Business School and INSEAD. He is a Professional Engineer registered in the Province of Nova Scotia. Mr. van Steenbergen holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, with honors in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston and an M.B.A. in International Business and Finance from Dalhousie University in Halifax.
