As a Secretary of Transportation, Mr. Peña implemented the first international aviation policy for the United States since the 1970s, opening aviation markets around the world. He served as the Mayor of Denver from 1983 to 1991 and in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1979 to 1982. Mr. Peña holds a J.D. and a B.A. from the University of Texas, where he was made an Honorary Member of the Order of the Coif academic honor society and was also inducted as a Distinguished Alumnus to the University of Texas.
