As the Head of the Interactive Media Group, he was responsible for Microsoft’s online and consumer software businesses, including MSN, MSNBC, Expedia, Carpoint, Slate, Internet Gaming Zone, Encarta, multimedia games, desktop finance product, and hardware products such as the Microsoft Mouse. Mr. Higgins joined Microsoft in 1983. From 1995 to 1996, he served as a Group Vice President of Applications and Content Group, responsible for Microsoft Office consumer and online applications, desktop finance, hardware, and Microsoft research. From 1992 to 1995, Mr. Higgins served as a Senior Vice President of the Desktop Applications Division at Microsoft, where he was responsible for developing, marketing, and localizing Microsoft Office, while making it the leading application product in personal computer software worldwide. From 1988 to 1992, Mr. Higgins served as a General Manager and then a Vice President of the Analysis Business Unit at Microsoft , leading the rise of Microsoft Excel to the leadership position in the personal computer spreadsheet market. Mr. Higgins has been Chairman and Director of Market Leader, Inc., since May 2007 and April 2004 respectively. He has been Director of Advanced Digital Information Corporation since December 2002. He serves as a Director of Bocada Inc., JeNu Biosciences Inc., Insitu, Inc., Azaleos Corp, Modumetal, Rubicon Interactive, and Ice Energy, Inc. Mr. Higgins serves on the Advisory Board of Minepoint. He serves as Director of Nordstrom.com, and TeamOn Systems Inc. He served as Director of PublishOne, Inc. Mr. Higgins also serves on the Board of Trustees at Stanford University and serves on the Board of Governors at the Seattle Aquarium Society. He serves on the advisory board of the Woods Institute for the Environment, Long Live the Kings, the Hoh River Trust. He was a Board Member of the Washington Software Association, Software Publishers Association. Mr. Higgins holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. degree in Economics and History from Stanford University.
