Prof. Hwung-Hweng Hwung has been the President of National Cheng Kung University since February 2011. Prof. Hwung is the Professor of Department of Hydraulics & Ocean Engineering Director of Tainan Hydraulics Laboratory, Chief Executive Officer of “Aim for the Top-Tier University and Elite Research Center Development Plan” promoted by the Ministry of Education and President of the Water Industry Development & Promotion Association. He served as Acting Dean of the College ... of Social Sciences from 2008 to 2009, President of the Taiwan Ocean Engineering Association from 2000 to 2006, Coordinator of project of “Aim for the Top-Tier University and Elite Research Center Development Plan” for Research Center of Ocean Environment and Technology from 2006 to 2007. He was Visiting Professor at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University since 1994 and the Mechanical Engineering Department, Hong Kong University since 1992. He is a Member of International Association of Hydraulic Research, Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering, The Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, R.O.C., The Association of Ocean Engineering, R. O. C., Executive Committee of ICHD and The Pacific Congress on Marine Science and Technology. He has received many awards including PACON Service Award in 2003, Excellence Award for University-Industry Collaboration, National Cheng Kung University in 2004, Paper Award of Taiwan's Society of Ocean Engineering in 2004, Award of Hydraulic Engineering Contribution in Taiwan in 2005 and Distinguished Research Award National Science Council, Taiwan in 2010. He has Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from National Cheng Kung University in 1981, M.Sc. in Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering from National Cheng Kung University 1975 and B.Sc. in Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering from National Cheng Kung University 1970.
