Background

Mr. Erik Benson serves as a Managing Director at Voyager Capital. Mr. Benson joined the firm in 1998 and focuses on large, market-changing technologies and disruptive business models like SaaS, cloud computing, big data, and analytics. He was previously responsible for Voyager’s investments in three Pacific Northwest-based companies. Mr. Benson has an experience of over eight years in technology, venture capital, and private equity experience. He has led early stage ... investments in digital media and software companies in three of the west coast innovation centers: Seattle, Portland and San Diego. Prior to Voyager, Mr. Benson was the President at Mimix, where he also held executive marketing and sales positions. Prior to that, he worked as an Executive-in-Residence at WRF Capital, helping commercialize research and development at the University of Washington. Mr. Benson has also served in staff roles at Perkin-Elmer Corporation. He began his career in private equity at Chemical Securities Inc. (now JPMorgan Chase) advising and financing private equity clients. Mr. Benson is currently on the board of directors of seven Voyager companies located primarily in the Pacific Northwest. He is an Investor/Board Member of AboutUs, Zettics, Act-On Software, Covario, Chirpify, Elemental Technologies, Geoloqi, Mobile Intelligence Solutions, and Lighter Capital. He has been on the Board of Kryptiq. He served on the Board of CapitalStream. He is the President Emeritus of the Harvard Business School Alumni organization of Washington State. Mr. Benson is also the Founder and President of the Seattle Association of Young Venture Capitalists (SayVC.com). He was the President and Director of the Harvard Business School Club of Puget Sound. He has also served as an investor at the WRF Capital (Washington Research Foundation). Mr. Benson holds an M.B.A., with honors, from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics and Concentration in Computer Science from Lutheran University.
