Dr. Jeff Himawan, Ph.D. has been Managing Director of Essex Woodlands Health Ventures since 2004. He began his career in 1987 as a Bench Scientist at Genzyme Corporation. Dr. Himawan was a Managing Director of Athena Ventures, LLC. He has been the Chairman of MediciNova, Inc since March 30, 2007. Dr. Himawan has been a Director of Horizon Pharma, Inc. since March 2010. He serves as a Director of Symphogen A/S, Catalyst Biosciences, Inc., Light Sciences Oncology, Inc., Ception Therapeutics, Inc., Iomai, and Horizon Therapeutics. Dr. Himawan served as a Director of Receptor BioLogix. Dr. Himawan has written several patents in the fields of wireless communications, biotechnology, and protein chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology from the Harvard University and a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
