At Ford Credit, he worked with the leadership team to lead a significant turnaround in its business from 2001 to 2004. In 1993, his leadership in financial services arm began, since then he served as Executive Director of Strategic Planning and External Affairs for Ford Financial Services Group. He served as a Vice Chairman of Ford Motor Co. from October 1, 2005 to March 1, 2006. Mr. Smith has been a Director of Lear Corp. since November 9, 2009. He serves as a Director of Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan Inc. and Southwall Technologies Inc.
