Background

Dr. Peter A. Patriarca, M.D. serves as Senior Clinical Consultant at Biologics Consulting Group, Inc. Dr. Patriarca joined Biologics Consulting Group in May 2005. He served as Medical Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 1980 to 1992, and at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 1993 to 2001. At the CDC, he was assigned to the National Immunization Program, where, in addition to holding other ... positions, he served as the first head of the CDC's program in support of the global poliomyelitis eradication initiative. He served as Director of Division of Viral Products in the Office of Vaccines Research & Review in the Center for Biologics Evaluation & Research (CBER) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In that capacity, he worked on the quality and consistency of chemistry, manufacturing and controls and clinical aspects of numerous vaccines and adjuvants, and was intimately involved with regulatory decisions and policy affecting vaccine development and licensure. He joined the CBER in 1994. He served as an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service for 20 years and has held academic appointments with Emory University and Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Patriarca was Corporate Head and Vice President, Worldwide Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance at MedImmune, Inc. from 2001 to 2005. At MedImmune, LLC, he was responsible for regulatory strategy and compliance oversight for all infectious disease-, immunology- and oncology-related programs. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board for Protein Sciences Corporation. He has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He is board certified in pediatrics, and has completed residencies in pediatrics and preventative medicine. He received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and BS from the University of Notre Dame.
