Ms. Franci J. Blassberg is a Partner at Debevoise & Plimpton since 1985. Ms. Blassberg is the co-head of Debevoise & Plimpton’s Private Equity Group. In addition, she is a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group and is a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Ms. Blassberg regularly represents private equity clients in their acquisition and related activities. She also has extensive experience counseling private and public companies in domestic and international ... acquisitions and divestitures, securities offerings and other transactions. Ms. Blassberg is a frequent speaker at seminars and a contributor to legal and other periodicals on acquisitions and private equity topics. She has co-chaired for many years the annual Advanced ALI-ABA Course of Study on Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions sponsored by the American Law Institute-American Bar Association Committee on Continuing Professional Education. In addition, she originated and acts as Editor-in-Chief of the Debevoise & Plimpton Private Equity Report. Some of Ms. Blassberg’s recent publications include "Structuring Issues for Financial Sponsors in Leveraged Recapitalization Transactions", The M&A Lawyer (1998); "Being on a Board of a Foreign Subsidiary", Directors & Boards (1997), and "Special Problems in Acquisitions of Divisions & Subsidiaries" in Acquiring or Selling the Privately Held Company, Practising Law Institute (2000). Ms. Blassberg was recently identified as one of the leading practitioners in the United States in Private Equity: Buyouts in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers 2001-2002 (Chambers and Partners 2001), a ranking based on a survey of other practitioners and clients world-wide. Recent transactions have included Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc. in its U.S. and cross-border transactions; USA Group in its sale to SLM Holding Corp. (Sallie Mae) and North Castle Partners, L.L.C. in its acquisition and investment activities and representing Merrill Lynch in a variety of its private equity activities. Ms. Blassberg is a member of the Boards of Trustees of Cornell University, the New School University (formerly the New School for Social Research), Historic Deerfield Inc. and Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York. Ms. Blassberg received her B.A., with distinction, from Cornell University and her J.D., magna cum laude , from Cornell Law School, where she was an editor of the Law Review.
