He performed postdoctoral work and served on the faculty of Rockefeller University working with Drs. Zanvil Cohn and Ralph Steinman prior to joining the Yale faculty ... in the early 1980's. Dr. Mellman serves as Member of Scientific Advisory Board of CGI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He serves as Member of Scintific Advisory Council of Cancer Research Institute, Inc. He is also a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. The recipient of many awards, named lectureships, and also the current Editor in Chief of the prestigious Journal of Cell Biology, Dr. Mellman is the Author of over 150 scientific publications. He is best known for elucidating how the organization of cell organelles and membrane proteins can initiate and control the immune response. He received his A.B. from Oberlin College in 1973 and Ph.D. in Genetics from Yale in 1978.
