Mr. Steven R. Swartz, Steve has been the Chief Operating Officer of The Hearst Corporation (Hearst Newspapers) since March 2011 and has been its President since December 5, 2012. Mr. Swartz served as the President of Hearst Newspapers and Senior Vice President of Hearst Corporation from January 2009 to March 30, 2011. He served as an Executive Vice President of Hearst Newspapers of Hearst Corporation from January 2001 to December 2008. Mr. Swartz served as the Chief ... Executive Officer and President of SmartMoney since May 1995. Since June 1991, he served as Founding Editor of SmartMoney Magazine, a joint venture of Hearst and Dow Jones & Co., debuted in March 1992. In 1997, he launched SmartMoney.com. Mr. Swartz started his career as a Reporter in the Philadelphia bureau of The Wall Street Journal in 1984 and transferred to the New York bureau in 1986 to cover the securities industry. He has been Director of Hearst Corporation since October 2009. There, Mr. Swartz wrote the article pronouncing "the end of the 80s" the Friday before the stock market crash of 1987. In May, 1989, he became a Journal Page One Editor. He serves as Director of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. He serves as a Director at Newspaper Association of America. He has been Trustee of The Hearst Family Trust since July 5, 2012. He serves on the Board of the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. Mr. Swartz serves as a Member of the Investment Committee of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Executive Committee of Settlement Housing Fund. Under his leadership, SmartMoney was named "Magazine of the Year" by Advertising Age and the magazine and its web site, SmartMoney.com, won a total of three National Magazine Awards. He is a graduate of Harvard College.
