Dr. Stephen A. Roth is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Immune Control Inc. He serves as a Consultant to Neose Technologies. Previously, Dr. Roth served as the Chief Executive Officer of Neose Technologies from August 1994 to March 2002, a company which he co-founded in 1990. From 1992 to August 1994, he served as the Senior Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Scientific Officer of Neose. Dr. Roth is a Director Emeritus of Neose Technologies ... Inc. since June 1, 2005. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Greenhouse Corporation and the School of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania, a Member of the Board of visitors of the School of Arts and Sciences of Case Western Reserve University, and a Member of the Advisory Boards of Quaker BioVentures and Birchmere Ventures. Since 1978, Dr. Roth has been a Member of the Editorial Board of The Quarterly Review of Biology. He served as the Chairman of Neose Technologies from 1994 to May 2003 and a Director from 1989 to May 3, 2005. Dr. Roth also served as a Director at VioQuest Pharmaceuticals Inc. Prior to starting Neose, he was an Assistant and Associate Professor of Biology at The Johns Hopkins University from 1970 to 1980. Dr. Roth was on the Faculty and served as a Professor of the University of Pennsylvania from 1980 to 1994 and was the Chairman of Biology Department from 1982 to 1987. At Penn, he helped form its Plant Science Institute. His scholarly interests centered on the roles of complex carbohydrates in embryonic morphogenesis and in malignancy, topics on which he authored or co-authored nearly 100 articles and one book. Dr. Roth has received several research awards and prizes, and is an inventor on 18 patents and six patent applications. He received an A.B. degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins in 1964, a Ph.D. in Development Biology from Case Western Reserve University in 1968, and did postdoctoral work in carbohydrate Chemistry at Hopkins from 1968 to 1970.
