Mr. Stephen R. Aiello was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Cohn & Wolfe. He was the former President of the company. Steve's government, crisis, labor and coalition-building expertise have helped a number of clients build or repair relationships with key communities and constituencies. He has helped clients with crisis management, including Tylenol, Perrier, the Daily News, Colgate-Palmolive, Pfizer and Trans World Airlines. His work for Johnson & Johnson on Tylenol and Pfizer for the Shiley Heart Valve has been honored with Silver Anvils, the public relations industry's highest award. Currently, Steve is a senior counselor to Philip Morris and Deloitte Consulting Group for crisis and issues management. In addition, his grass-roots political community expertise has contributed to the successful execution of major national programs for clients such as Philip Morris , as well as for the AT&T Torch Run for the 1984 Olympics, the National Ratification Celebration of the U.S. Constitution for Merrill Lynch, the National Hispanic Drop-Out Prevention Program for Coca-Cola and the National Health Forum for Pfizer. Steve served in the White House as special assistant to President Carter on ethnic affairs. He also held the office of president of the New York City Board of Education for three years where his expertise included education and labor issues. Formerly, he was president of the New York Educational Construction Fund and has taught at the university level and in secondary schools. Steve has been chairman of the New York City Youth Board, the New York City Urban Coalition and the NYU Creative Arts Team, a member of the National Center for Urban Ethnic Affairs and the National Dropout Prevention Fund. He also is a director of the National Italian American Foundation, Kappa Delta Pi, a trustee of the NYS Democratic Committee and chairman of the Community Services Society of New York. Steve served as an advisor and counselor to the National Quincentennary Commission in Washington, D.C. He has received numerous honors from educational, community and business organizations and has been honored by the governments of Italy and Ireland for his work in promoting greater understanding and cooperation between their countries and the United States. Steve holds a doctorate in urban studies from Union Graduate School, an M.A. in history from Columbia University, a B.A. in history from New York University and a Professional Certificate in educational administration from New York University.
