Dr. Gayle is board certified in pediatrics and completed residency in pediatric medicine at the Children's Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She also chairs the Obama Administration's Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS and serves on the President's Commission on White House Fellowships. She entered the Epidemic Intelligence Service, a training program in epidemiology, at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Dr. Gayle holds a BA from Barnard College-Columbia University, an MD from the University of Pennsylvania and an MPH from Johns Hopkins University.
