Background

Mr. Toyoo Gyohten serves as President at the Institute for International Monetary Affairs. Mr. Gyohten is also a senior Advisor of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. Mr. Gyohten served for many years in the Japanese Ministry of Finance until he retired as Vice-Minister of Finance for International Affairs in 1989, and also served as Chairman of the Institute of International Finance, and Special Adviser to the prime minister of Japan. He also worked for the International ... Monetary Fund and the Asian Development Bank where he was one of the founding members and served as Special Assistant to the President. Mr. Gyohten chaired Working Party III of the OECD in Paris from 1988 to 1990. He serves as member of a number of institutions dedicated to financial and economic development, among which are the Bretton Woods Committee, the Asia Pacific Advisory Committee for the New York Stock Exchange, the Group of Thirty, and the Trilateral Commission. Mr. Gyohten is a current Member of Advisory Board at Council on Foreign Relations Inc. He serves as a Member of the International Advisory Board at Kenmar-Nihon Venture Capital since November 4, 2005. He serves as a Member of International Advisory Board of National Bank of Kuwait S.A.K. He was a visiting Professor at Harvard Business School and Princeton University, and co-authored Changing Fortunes with former US Federal Reserve Chairman Mr. Paul Volcker. He was the former Chairman of the Bank of Tokyo.
