He served as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development for Covad Communications, with responsibility for strategy, partnerships and alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate investments. Prior to joining Covad, Mr. Davenport served as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of TCI.NET, where he focused on the development and operations of its Advanced Services initiatives including Teleport Communications Group, Sprint PCS, @Home and cable telephony. In this role, he led the implementation, launch and operations of TCI@Home. Before TCI@Home, Mr. Davenport served as the Vice President of TCI Telephony Services. In this role, he led the development and implementation of the cable telephony business and managed TCI's $1 billion investments in Teleport Communications Group and Sprint PCS as a Member of the Board of Directors of each business. Before his tenure at TCI, Mr. Davenport served as Chief Financial Officer of Intellicall, Inc. and Director of Corporate Development for TLC Beatrice Foods International, and Asia. He started his career on Wall Street at First Boston and Lehman Brothers in private equity investing in leveraged buyouts and risk arbitrage. Mr. Davenport serves on the Board of Directors of privately held companies that are focused on providing solutions for distributed entertainment, broadband Internet access, and home networking applications. Mr. Davenport serves as the Member of Board of Advisors at Ucentric Systems, Inc. Mr. Davenport is the Chairman of Up Communications Services, LLC and Sungevity. He is a Director of Blu Homes, Inc.; One Pacific Coast Bank, FSB; and the East Bay Community Foundation. He has served as a Director at MCI, Inc since October 14, 2005 and St. Paul’s Episcopal School. He served as a Member of Advisory Board at Ucentric Systems, Inc. He has also invested in and served as a director and/or advisor to several domestic and international technology companies including ACCA Networks, Loop Telecom, WebMD, Akamai, Efficient Networks, and I Beam. He received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from Harvard University and also completed post graduate work in Political Economy at the University of Nairobi, as a Rotary Fellow.
