Mr. John R. Caplan founded The OpenSky Project, Inc.(also known as OpenSky Project, Inc). in April 2009 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Caplan served as the President of Ford Models, Inc. Mr. Caplan served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ford Models, Inc. since November 30, 2007. Since joining in 2002, his novel approach to managing talent careers has increased talent earnings and created new branding opportunities its talent. He has led a number of ... strategic acquisitions, negotiated several important talent contracts, and is the creator of Fordmodels.tv, Ford's digital media business. Mr. Caplan served as the President of the About.com Network, now owned by The New York Times Company. He served as General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer of About.com, Inc. since January 2000. He joined Ford Models in September of 2002 with the charge to expand Ford's worldwide operations. Since his arrival, he has successfully grown Ford Models business, integrated acquired agencies, expanded Ford's Artist divisions and launched Ford Models 360, Ford's content and event business. During the late 1990's, Mr. Caplan was an integral part of About.com, where he ultimately served as President of the About Network before leaving in 2001. He served as the Senior Vice President, Marketing of About.com, Inc. from November 1998 to January 2000. From October 1995 to November 1998, he served as Director, Marketing of Berenter Greenhouse & Webster, an advertising and marketing agency specializing in consumer brands. Mr. Caplan served as President of Advertising & Diversity, Inc., from October 1994 to September 1995. From September 1991 to October 1994, he served as an Account Executive for TDI Worldwide (now owned by CBS Corporation), an outdoor advertising company. His early experience includes leading the strategic development and marketing for the launch of the Arizona Iced Tea brand and oversaw regional marketing for Starbucks Coffee Company. Mr. Caplan has been a Director of Applied Genetics, Inc. since February 2007. He serves as a Director of Ford Models, Inc and The OpenSky Project, Inc. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of SkillSlate, Inc., and Viewpoints Network, LLC. He is a Member of the Young President Organization and on the Alumni Volunteer Board of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School. Mr. Caplan holds a B.A. in English from the University of Rochester.
