Prior to leading Fisher Scientific, Dr. Montrone served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Wheelabrator Technologies Inc. and under his leadership, the annual shareholder returns at Wheelabrator were 22 percent compounded. Previously, Dr. Montrone served as an Executive Vice President at The Signal Companies, Inc. and its successor, AlliedSignal Inc. (now Honeywell International Inc.). Dr. Montrone served as President at The Henley Group, Inc. Dr. Montrone served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Wheelabrator-Frye Inc. He also served at The Metropolitan Opera in various capacities over three decades, including as the President and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Montrone began his career at the Pentagon, serving in the Systems Analysis Group in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Mr. Robert McNamara while a Captain in the U.S. Army. For more than three decades, Dr. Montrone has directed the development of a number of businesses in a diverse set of industries.
