Dr. Melvin K. Spigelman, Mel, M.D. serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Global Alliance for TB Drug Development. From 1989 to 2001, he held various positions at BASF Pharma, starting as a Director of Oncology and Immunulogy U.S.A., then the Vice President of Research and Development U.S.A., and finally as a Vice President of Global Clinical Centers where he established a track record in global development and registration of drugs in the indications of cardiovascular medicine, endocrinology, oncology, and immunology. Dr. Spigelman also worked at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor for several years, specializing in internal medicine, medical oncology and preventive medicine. He has been Director of Synergy Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since August 21, 2008. He has been a Director of The Medicines Company since September 29, 2005. He received an M.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York and a B.A. in Engineering from Brown University, Rhode Island, United States.
