Prior to joining Novartis, he has played key leadership roles in building two highly successful early stage companies at Astra Merck Pharmaceuticals and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. He served as GI Business Unit Head of US Gastrointestinal Franchise at Astra Pharmaceuticals, LP from 1997 to 1998. Prior to joining Novartis, Mr. Graves held various commercial and general management positions since 1990 at Merck and Astra/Merck Pharmaceuticals including US GI Business Unit Head another multi-billion dollar business with responsibility for Prilosec(R), Nexium(R) and the Prilosec OTC alliance with P&G. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Graves served in a variety of roles at Astra Merck Pharmaceuticals including Business Unit Commercialization Leader. He has been the Executive Chairman of Biolex Therapeutics, Inc. since November 9, 2010. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Radius Health, Inc. since November 2011 and has been its Director since May 24, 2011. He has been a Director of SpringLeaf Therapeutics, Inc. and Pulmatrix Pharmaceuticals since May 2010. He has been an Independent Director at Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since June 2012.
