Mr. George J. Harad served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Officemax Inc. (formerly, Boise Cascade Corp.,) from February 2005 to April 14, 2005, its President from 1991 to April 18, 2005, and its Executive Chairman from 1995 to June 30, 2005, until his retirement. Mr. Harad served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Officemax Inc from 1994 to 2004. He heads a small private investment company. He had a long career with Boise Cascade Corporation, joining ... in 1971 as an Administrative Assistant in Boise Cascade Corporation's Housing Group and subsequently held a number of leadership positions including Controller, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, President, and Chief Executive Officer. Over the next 20 years, Mr. Harad advanced to being named as the President and Chief Operating Officer in December 1991 and President and Chief Executive Officer in 1994. Prior to Boise Cascade, he served as a Consultant for the Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Harad serves as a Member of Advisory Board at Highway 12 Ventures. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Boise Cascade Office Products Corp. since 1995. Previously, he served as the Founder and President of the Boise Council for Gifted or Talented Students; Trustee of The Nature Conservancy of Idaho, Director of the Boise Public Schools Education Foundation; Trustee of the Albertson College of Idaho, Director of the American Association of Private Pension and Welfare Plans, Trustee of the Institute of Paper Science and Technology, Member of The Business Roundtable, and Director of the National Association of Manufacturers. Mr. Harad was a teaching fellow at Harvard University. Mr. Harad has earned an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.A. in Government, magna cum laude, from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.
