Dr. Owens served as Chief Executive Officer of Caterpillar Inc from February 01, 2004 to July 01, 2010 and its Group President from 1995 to 2003 for 13 of its ... 25 divisions. He was named chief economist of Caterpillar Overseas S.A. in 1975. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Caterpillar Inc since 1995 and its Corporate Vice President since 1990. Dr. Owens retired in 2010 after 38 years of service, including, from 1995 to 2003 and responsible for Component Products and Control Systems, Human Services, Latin America, Logistics, Product Support, and Systems and Processes. Natra Raya, Caterpillar's joint venture in Indonesia. In 1993 he came to Peoria as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with administrative responsibility for the Corporate Services Division. Dr. Owens served as Vice President for the Corporate Services Division of Caterpillar Inc since 1993. Dr. Owens serves as Chairman of International Trade and Investment Task Force of The Business Roundtable. He served as Chairman of the Board of Caterpillar Inc from February 01, 2004 to October 31, 2010. Dr. Owens served as a Vice Chairman of Caterpillar Inc. from December 2003 to February 2004. He has been a Director of Alcoa Inc since June 21, 2005; International Business Machines Corporation since March 01, 2006, Morgan Stanley since January 1, 2011 and of Alcoa Automotive, Inc. since 2005. Dr. Owens serves as Director of Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Economics. He is a member of The Business Council and a trustee of North Carolina State University. He serves as Member of Business Roundtable and the Manufacturing Council in Washington, DC; and the Global Advisory Council to The Conference Board in New York. He is also a member of the Community Advisory Board of Saint Francis Medical Center and the Civic Federation Board in Peoria. He serves as Member of US President economic recovery advisory board. Dr. Owens serves as Director of Council on Foreign Relations, Inc. He serves as Director of FM Global Insurance Company and the Institute for International Economics. Dr. Owens has been Director of Closure Systems International, Inc since 2005. Dr. Owens served as Director of Caterpillar Inc since February 01, 2004.
