Background

Ms. Maryanne Gilmartin has been Chief Executive Officer and President at Forest City Ratner Companies, LLC, a subsidiary of Forest City Enterprises, Inc. since April 17, 2013. She co-managed the Commercial Development division and she heads the development of the 1.6 million square foot New York Times Headquarters in midtown ... Manhattan, as well as the Beekman Residential project in lower Manhattan. Ms. Gilmartin manages the New York Times development on behalf of the New York Times, which occupy 900,000 square feet in the building, while also spearheading the development and leasing of the additional 700,000 square feet of premium Class A office and retail space on behalf of Forest City Ratner Companies and its financial partner ING Real Estate. This exciting and monumental office project, located on 8th Avenue between 40th & 41st Streets, broke ground last year with Pritzer Prize winning architect Renzo Piano at the helm. Ms. Gilmartin’s management of the one million square foot Beekman project, a mixed-use project of premium rentals and condominiums in lower Manhattan, includes oversight of the programming, design and marketing of the residential units, as well as overall responsibility for the development of the project. Additionally, Ms. Gilmartin directs the leasing of Forest City Ratner’s five million square foot commercial portfolio at MetroTech Center in Brooklyn, New York. In this capacity, Ms Gilmartin has developed the $56 million, 350,000 square foot FDNY headquarters building and is responsible for the lease renewals of MetroTech tenants such as SIAC, Bear Sterns, KeySpan and Morgan Stanley. Ms. Gilmartin has been responsible for the development of several major entertainment and commercial office projects during her tenure with Forest City. She led the development of the $100 million, 650,000 square foot 42nd Street mixed-use project that includes Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, a 25-screen AMC complex and HMV Records. Ms. Gilmartin also managed the development of the $43.0 million, 165,000 square foot Battery Park City complex, which includes a Regal Cinemas as well as other national retail chains. Prior to joining Forest City Ratner Companies, Ms. Gilmartin was Managing Director for Consulting Services at Grubb & Ellis Companies, advising corporations and developers on real estate and relocation needs. Previously, she served as Assistant Vice President for Commercial Development at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) during the Koch and Dinkins administrations. While with the EDC, Ms. Gilmartin managed New York City’s multi-million dollar corporate retention program, which played a key role in retaining companies considering relocation from New York City, including Bear Stearns, Morgan Stanley and Chase Manhattan Bank. She serves as Member of Advisory Board at New York City Ballet, Inc. Ms. Gilmartin is a member of the Association of Real Estate Women (AREW); CoreNet Global (the newly merged International Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives and International Development Research Council); WX (previously CREW), and serves (enthusiastically) on the New York City Ballet Advisory Committee. In 2003, Ms. Gilmartin was selected by Crain’s magazine as one of New York’s “40 Under 40” (the publication’s listing of the 40 top executives in business in New York under 40 years of age). In 2004, the Association of Real Estate Women (AREW) honored Ms. Gilmartin as a rising star in the New York real estate community.
