Mr. Barrington J. A. Prof. Furr is a former employee of Almirall and another large pharmaceutical company. He serves as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Syntaxin Ltd. and Astex Therapeutics Limited. He has been a Director at GTX Inc. since January 1, 2011. He serves as a Non-Executive Director of Genus and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. Prof. Furr also serves as a Non-Executive Director at Manchester Technology Fund. He is also a Trustee of the Breast Cancer Campaign and was a Trustee of Cancer Research United Kingdom. Prof. Furr sits on the Committees for the MRC, BBSRC, and Wellcome and advises two international venture capital funds. He was an Advisor at Merlin Biosciences Limited. During his career, Prof. Furr has been honoured for his commitment to drug discovery and was awarded the Jubilee Medal of the Society for Endocrinology in 1996. He was also made an O.B.E. in the Millennium Honours for services to cancer drug discovery. In 1991, he received the Society for Drug Research Drug Discovery Award and the Jubilee Medal of the Society for Endocrinology in 1997. Prof. Furr is the author of more than 160 papers. He is a William Pitt fellow at Pembroke College, Cambridge. Prof. Furr is a Fellow of the Institute of Biology, Academy of Medical Sciences, and Pembroke College, Cambridge.
