Prior to Imperial Chemical, Dr. McAdam served in a number of senior positions at Unilever. In 1974, he joined Unilever and served ... as its Management Trainee and held a variety of managerial positions within Birds Eye Foods before joining the Board of Unilevers flavours and fragrance business, PPF International, and served as its Technical Director. Since 1987, he served as Senior Vice President of Incharge of Manufacturing, Logistics and Procurement of Quest International before returning to Birds Eye Walls, where he assumed Board responsibility for Manufacturing, Research and Development. He served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Quest and a Member of the ICI Executive Management Team since 1997. He joined Imperial Chemical Industries Plc in 1997 following the acquisition of the Speciality Chemicals business from Unilever, where he held a number of senior positions. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive of ICI Paints from January 1998 to April 2003 and the following year he was elected to the Board with additional responsibility for Research, Development and Technology and its activities in Asia. Dr. McAdam has been Chairman of the Board and Director of Rentokil Initial plc since May 14, 2008. He has been the Chairman of United Utilities Water Plc since March 31, 2011. He has been the Chairman of United Utilities Group PLC since July 25, 2008. Since 1993, he served as the Chairman of Unichema International.
