Background

Mr. Jordan Meranus was a Partner at Newschools Venture Fund, Investment Arm. He focused on the firm’s school turnaround investment strategy, as well as management assistance for a variety of its portfolio ventures. Mr. Meranus brings a wealth of experience in the education, nonprofit and private sectors. In eight years at NewSchools, he helped to establish NewSchools as a leader in education technology and in the turnaround of chronically low-performing schools. In each ... of these areas, he has raised investment funds, identified and invested in leading organizations, and worked with elected officials and policy leaders. Prior to joining NewSchools, he was a Managing Director at Imagitas, where he helped launch and lead MoversGuide Online. Mr. Meranus was also a Co-Founder at Jumpstart. In this capacity, he helped develop Jumpstart's core service model, put in place the education program and evaluation process, and developed many of the original educational partnerships that endure today. Mr. Meranus serves on the Board of Directors of Civic Builders, Friendship Public Charter Schools, EdBuild, Academy for Urban School Leadership, Presence Telecare, Acelero Learning, The Achievement Network, BetterLesson, Mastery Charter Schools, and Revolution Foods. He also leads Ellevation. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Excel Academy Charter School in East Boston, the Board of Directors for Mass2020, and the Board of Advisors for DukeEngage. Mr. Meranus received a Master's degree in both Education and Public Administration from Harvard and a Bachelor's degree in History from Duke University.
