Mr. F. Thomas Balzer, Ph.d. served as Chief Scientific Officer of Health Market Science, Inc. Mr. Balzer was responsible for the development and commercialization of the Health Market Science advanced analytics solutions for the pharmaceutical industry. He was the Founder of Optio Research and served as its Chief Executive Officer. He held senior executive positions at a number of leading companies supplying data, analysis, and consulting services to the global pharmaceutical ... industry (Optio Research, Quintiles/Verispan, NDC Health, ZS Associates), and was instrumental in designing the integrated, longitudinal patient databases in use today. Mr. Balzer had a distinguished career in the U.S. Army culminating in the position of lead analyst for conventional war-gaming at the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon. Mr. Balzer led the development team for the conventional force combat simulation models used to assess global contingency scenarios. He serves as the Chairman of The Advisory Board at Activate Networks Inc. Mr. Balzer holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of New South Wales (Australia), an M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and an M.A. in Management from Central Michigan University.
