Background

Mr. Douglas L. Brown, Doug, is a Co-Founder and Parrtner of DLB Capital LLC and serves as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Brown has spent many years advising financial services companies at the Chief Executive Officer level with respect to corporate financial issues such as restructuring, capital raising, and the monetization of key assets. Mr. Brown specialized in providing strategic-oriented advice geared towards corporate value maximization, and in the ... process, formed lasting relationships with many of the top executives in the global financial services business. He has been at the forefront of many of the strategic changes in the global financial services industry. Mr. Brown has a proven ability to anticipate emerging themes several years before fruition and focus his and the firm’s efforts on exploiting the resultant opportunities. In 2005, he retired as the Vice Chairman of Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley with a wide range of responsibilities on the investment banking side of the firm. Mr. Brown was responsible for both the origination and execution of the firm’s transactions. While at the firm, he served as a Co-Head of the Global Financial Institutions Group, Head of the Global Insurance Group, Head of the Client Diagnostic Group, Head of Firm Relationship Management, and a leader of the firm’s China Financial Institutions Privatization initiatives. Mr. Brown has advised a number of key U.S. clients, including American International Group, Aegon, Phoenix Life, Torchmark, Waddell & Reed, First Colony, MetLife, and MassMutual, many of which he has worked with for many years. Internationally, he worked with a number of financial institutions in both China and Japan. Most recently, Mr. Brown’s clients in China included the Peoples Insurance Company of China and China Construction Bank for which he led the raising of over $10.5 billon in IPO proceeds. Prior to that, he was an Executive Director at First Boston specializing in corporate finance and merger and acquisitions at their global insurance group. Earlier, Mr. Brown was at GE Credit in strategic planning with a focus on acquisitions and business planning and ran its leveraged sale leaseback program. He serves as Co-Chairman of HighTower Advisors LLC. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Gottex Fund Management Holdings Limited since 2007. Mr. Brown serves as a Director of Aegon USA, the China Institute, China Risk Finance, Harvest Technology, Western United Life Assurance, and Greens Farms Academy. He served as an Advisor to the Government of Japan on the bankruptcy and sale of several insurance companies. Mr. Brown has an A.B. from Bowdoin College.
