Background

Mr. Robert Stanton has been a Trustee at Freedom Forum Newseum Inc, The since January 2007. Mr. Stanton serves as Emeritus Trustee of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He is a former director of the National Park Service and began his government career in 1962 as a seasonal ranger at Grand Teton National Park. In ... 1997, President Clinton made Stanton the first African-American to head the bureau. He led the National Park Service, a network of nearly 400 natural, cultural and recreation sites across the United States until 2001. Mr. Stanton is a senior fellow at Texas A&M University. He is a visiting professor at Howard University in Washington and a visiting fellow at the Yale School of Forestry and Environment. He is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Diversity Council and chairman emeritus of the trustees of the African American Experience Fund, National Park Foundation. He is a graduate of Huston-Tillotson University in Texas.
