He established Valley View Capital Corporation in 1982 and served as the President and completed the acquisition of Swift Independent Corporation and Friona Industries, with total revenues of $4.5 billion. Previously, Dr. Hegi served as a Vice President and Treasurer of Cooper Industries, Inc., and directed acquisitions and related financings totaling $2 billion. He served as the Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Kevco, Inc. from July 1999 to December 2002. Dr. Hegi served as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of United Stationers Inc. from November 1996 until May 1997. He began his career at First Chicago Corporation as a Senior Investment Manager of its venture investment activities. Dr. Hegi serves as the Chairman of Tahoka First BanCorp. Inc. and Cedar Creek Bancshares Inc. He has been the Chairman of United Stationers, Inc. since November 1996. Dr. Hegi has been a Director of Lone Star Technologies Inc., since 1985 and serves as a Presiding Director. He has been a Director at Drew Industries Inc. since May 2002. Dr. Hegi is an Advisory Director and former Chairman of the InterFaith Housing Coalition and former Chairman of the Advisory Council of the University of Texas School of Business and its Foundation. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Texas, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
