Background

Mr. Philip Carmichael serves as a Business Management Advisor at The Longreach Group. Mr. Carmichael is currently involved in providing operational and execution support to the firm. He is a Member of International Advisory Board of Scottish Development International and an outside Director of Fusion Systems. Having lived in Asia for 25 years, Mr. Carmichael was recently with Lexmark International and until very recently he was the Chairman of Lexmark Asia Pacific and ... a Lexmark Corporate Vice President. He was based in Tokyo and was responsible for all of the company’s strategic and operational performance in 22 Asian countries, running Australia and Japan. Prior to that, Mr. Carmichael was the Vice President and Regional Director for Asia at Rockwell International. From 1991 to 1996 he was the President at EG&G Services Ltd. In his five-year tenure, he started two high-technology manufacturing joint ventures and initiated the first private enterprise acquisition by a foreign company. Among other interests, Mr. Carmichael is on the Board of Governors of Project HOPE HK Foundations. He has recently authored a 500 page book on how to succeed in building a sustainable and profitable business in Asia – focused on China. Mr. Carmichael is a fluent Mandarin speaker and has spent his career helping the United States high technology companies develop sustainable business in the Asian region. He holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business Management from the University of Maryland Far East Division, and attended the University of Chicago 190 M.B.A. program from 1996 to 1997.
