Mr. James C. Dowdle has been Executive Vice President of Media Operations of Tribune Company since 1994. Mr. Dowdle serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tribune Broadcasting Company since 1981. He served as an Executive Vice President of Tribune Company from 1991 to 2000 and was responsible for its newspaper publishing, broadcasting and entertainment businesses including baseball. He began his career as an Advertising Salesman for the Chicago Tribune in ... 1956, Mr. Dowdle joined Edward Petry Company as a Sales Representative for client television stations, and, subsequently, served in a comparable position for the Katz Company. In 1962, he joined KWTV in Oklahoma City as National Sales Manager and, in 1964, he joined Hubbard Broadcasting Company's flagship station, KSTP, in Minneapolis-St. Paul as National Sales Manager. Mr. Dowdle served as Vice President and General Manager of Hubbard's Tampa station, WTOG, an independent, since 1973. He served as an Officer in the U.S. Marines. He also serves as chair of Junior Achievement of Chicago. He serves as a Director of Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation, the Advertising Council, the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago, Maximum Service Television, Inc., and the Television Operators Caucus. Mr. Dowdle serves as a Director of Junior Achievement of Chicago, the Chicago Center for Peace Studies and Catholic Charities Big Shoulders campaign. He serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees for Chicago's Museum of Science & Industry. He serves as the Director of Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation and Cantigny Foundation. He served as Director of SoftKey International Inc., of Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation (Merger) since December 1995. Mr. Dowdle served as Member of the Board of Directors at Loyola University Health System and Loyola University Medical Center since 1996. He served as director of Tribune Company since 1985. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Advisors at Mundelein Seminary. He served as a Trustee of Loyola University Chicago. In 2001, Mr. Dowdle received the Sword of Loyola, LUC's highest award honoring an individual who has made a commitment to service outside the field of medicine. Mr. Dowdle is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
