William Wesley Morris is resident bishop of the Tennessee and Memphis areas of the United Methodist Church. Elected to the episcopate in 1992, Bishop. Morris first served as bishop to the Alabama-West Florida area, then was assigned to the Nashville area in 2000. An ordained elder of the church's Tennessee Annual Conference, he has served as pastor in Chattanooga, Nashville, and Gallatin. He also served as the Associate Council Director of the Tennessee conference, as ... Clarksville district superintendent, conference council director and Murfreesboro district superintendent. He serves as Trustee Emeritus of Emory University and previously served as its Trustee since June 2001. A native of Baltimore, Bishop. Morris holds an undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, bachelor of divinity degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, master's degree from Scarritt College for Christian Workers, doctor of ministry degree from Vanderbilt University, and several honorary doctorates.
