Mr. Steven M. Polan serves as Partner and Co-Chair of New York City Government Practice Group at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP. Prior to joining Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, Mr. Polan was General Counsel for an international construction and engineering company firm. Previously, he served as Commissioner of Sanitation for the City of New York from 1990 to 1992 and as General Counsel of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority from 1981 to 1989. He serves as a Trustee at Citizens Budget Commission and New York Transit Museum.He is a Member of Ravitch Commission on Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Financing. He serves as a Advisory Board Member of Center on New York City Law, New York Law School. He was a Board Member of NYC Procurement Policy Board from 1995 to 2002. Mr. Polan holds a B.A., summa cum laude from Tufts University in 1973 and J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1976.
