Background

Mr. Giulio Tremonti serves as a Governor of Inter-American Development Bank and The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and served at The Caribbean Development Bank. Mr. Tremonti has been Minister of the Economy and Finance of Italy since May 8, 2008, a role also held from June 11, 2001 to July 3, 2004 and from September 22, 2005 to May 4, 2006. He serves as President of the Commission for Currency Exchange Control Reform. He is a Full Professor at the Faculty ... of Law at Pavia University. He has held the role of Visiting Professor at the Institute of Comparative Law at the University of Oxford, UK. He served as Political work Member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament since 1994, Vice-President of Forza Italia, Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies from 2006 to 2008 and Vice-President of the Council of Ministers from April 23, 2005 to May 4, 2006. Mr. Tremonti serves as a Trustee at The Aspen Institute. He serves as a Member of the Board of Governors at The EIB Group and African Development Bank. He is a co-editor of the Rivista di Diritto Finanziario e Scienza delle Finanze (Financial Law and Science Review), a member, in the moral science section, of the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere. He served as a Member of Board of Governors for European Investment Bank. He was also a member of the Joint Parliamentary Commission for the reform of the Italian Constitution as well as chairman, during the Italian term, of Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the G7 and the Ecofin Council. He has had work published by Il Mulino, Mondadori, Laterza. The author of two monographs and numerous scientific articles, he is also the author of La paura e la speranza (2008), Rischi fatali. L'Europa vecchia, la Cina, il mercatismo suicida: come reagire (2005), Lo Stato criminogeno (1997) and Il fantasma della povertà (1995) as well as Le cento tasse degli italiani (1986), La fiera delle tasse (1991), and Il federalismo fiscale (1994). He is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Institute of European and Comparative Law at Oxford University.
